LAUGHING WITH GOD

OK, I'll go ahead and ask "What do you think?" of this video - does a question make a sound if asked in a forest with no one around to hear it? ;-p

Lyrics
(I think I've got them right)

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God when they''re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one's laughing at God
When it's gotten real late and their kids not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane starts to uncontrollably shake
No one's laughing at God
When they see the one they love hand-in-hand with someone else
And they hope that they're mistaken

No one's laughing at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one's laughing at God
When there's a famine or fire or flood
Chorus
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they're 'bout to choke

God can be funny
When told he'll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus

God can be hilarioius - Ha ha - Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God
When they've lost all they've got
And they don't know what for

No one laughs at God on they day they realize
That the last sight they'll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one's laughing at God when they're saying their good-byes

Chorus

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God in a hospital
No one's laughing at God in a war
No one's laughing at God when they're starving or freezing or so very poor

No one's laughing at God
No one's laughing at God
No one's laughing at God
We're all laughing with God

So at first I thought it's the "no atheists in a fox-hole" message - no laughing at God in a hospital/war/time of trouble.
But there's more - it definitely is a jab at what passes for Christianity today - the superficial, artificial, make-a-wish gospel of just knowing the "right" prayer / formula for riches.
But I also think there's more still - I can't distill it in my mind yet but there is something to the "vision / sight" theme or motif. She begins by looking through the optometrists (spell check!!) what-ever-you-call-it and continues with such things as the eye close-up, the mask, the optical illusions for the viewer.
Is she saying we (religious folk) need to see more clearly? Or to the other extreme, that we've all been fooled and that there isn't even a god?? Hmmmm

Anyway, I kind-of like the song. And I listened to few more of her songs (Fidelity for one) and, though they're a little quirky, they grow on you (me at least):-)
